Juventus and Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini out for up to six months with ACL injury
Juventus and Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini was ruled out for up to six months using an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Chiellini may not be back till March and has undergone operation in Austria.
”This day (Tuesday), Giorgio Chiellini underwent surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament of the perfect knee,” the team confirmed on their official website.
”The intervention, performed in the Hochrum practice in Innsbruck by Professor Christian Fink at the presence of their Juventus Club Doctor, Dr. Tzouroudis, was absolutely Profitable.
”The expected recovery time is around half a year.”
Juve have won their opening two games of the Serie A season because they look to claim their ninth Italian name but they must now do with their performers.
They have to navigate a tough Champions League Group D that comprises Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Lokomotiv Moscow.
Chiellini would be should Juventus make it that far to go back to action for those quarter-finals of this competition.
