Bukayo Saka: Arsenal’s model student has a bright future |

Arsenal and Manchester Uniteds 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last month was a gruesome affair. For Bukayo Saka it also provided a platform to further enhance a reputation.
At 25 days , and producing just his seventh mature appearance for Arsenal and 18 decades, Saka became the youngest player to begin a Premier League match between the 2 sides. And in a floor where players far older than him have awakened, there was little proof of their inexperience.
In fact, the starting place of Saka now looks more stable than that of those 72m Nicolas Pepe. Unai Emery described Saka as animportant player after the Manchester United game and began him again in the 1-0 win over Bournemouth. The academy graduate will be confident of keeping his place.
And why shouldnt he be?
Saka provided the first glimpses of his raw skills last year – most notably with his man-of-the-match revealing against Qarabag from the Europa League – but, similar to one of his own driving runs Arsenals left flankhis progress has gained momentum in the new effort.
The winger scored his first senior goal in the 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last month, finding the bottom corner with a curling end from 25 yards out, and that there have also been three aids, including the intelligent through-ball for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyangs equaliser at Old Trafford.
Its that ability that has propelled Saka to the spotlight, so moving him above fellow academy graduates Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock at Emerys pecking order, for Arsenal fans is that hes demonstrating the personality that is right also, but what is just as reassuring. Saka humble it off and is mature and confident about the pitch.
Respectful, really hard-working and always prepared to learn, is how team captain Granit Xhaka explained him lately. Theyre traits recognisable not only to people operating in Arsenals academy, which he joined at age eight, but also the employees at Greenford High School in Ealing, west London, where he had been a pupil from age 11 to 16.
He was a role model of a pupil, assistant head teacher Mark Harvey, who also taught Saka PE, informs Sky Sports. A lovely and respectful lad with a really nice attitude. He simply completed himself in a great way.
Occasionally you are able to instruct students who are extremely good in soccer, but if you get them on a pitch, they simply hog the ball or they would like to show off with it. Bukayo was not that sort of man whatsoever. If anything, he also played how great he was, that was really great to watch.
Saka was coaching frequently with Arsenal by the time he started in Greenford, making the long trip from his family home in Ealing to the club north-east London academy several times each week, but its a testament to his attitude – and aptitude – that he never allowed his studies to suffer even if his soccer commitments required time from school.
He did his GCSEs with us before he left and that he did very, very nicely, says Harvey. Each of his grades were so too high, especially in English and Maths. In addition, he did business studies, hed RE, he did sciences that are joint. He did really well through the board, which will be amazing considering the quantity of time he had out of school with his soccer.
We attempted to work with Arsenal as much as possible. We understood he had been along with the ranges he had been becoming, so that we had been about allocating him out time, flexible. His family were really supportive and always ensured he would do his homework, which for us was the key thing.
Saka threw himself with the dedication into his football, increasing through Arsenals youth ranks and breaking into Freddie Ljungbergs U23s shortly after his 17th birthday. He understands what he is about and hes very inspired, he states. I discovered him to be quiet, but perhaps not in a poor manner. Initially, young players make that luxury of competitions not really understanding much about these, states Dewsnip. Bukayo is quick, hes strong, he will make , he can score, he could cross. But everybody knows that. He will need to find different methods of changing the match also.
It is fortunate, then, that Saka includes an established appetite for self – so there appears little possibility of his profile moving to his head. In Greenford High Schoolwhere the staff refer to him asour boy and where his authorized England U19s shirt hangs framed on the wall in a reception area, he remains a regular visitor.
Our old head teacher was a big Chelsea fan, however, he had a really great relationship with Bukayo and Bukayo actually came right back to his leaving do a year along with his dad, says Harvey. He had some pictures taken and talked to some of our pupils. He has friends in sixth-form here and that he often comes into college and says hello to us.
The simple fact that Saka has buddies is a reminder that this is only the start for him. 19 doesnt even turn . But all of the ingredients are there for a future that is brilliant. From Ealing to Old Trafford, Saka is currently making a big impression.
