Garry Monk appointed Sheffield Wednesday manager

Garry Monk was named as the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday.
Monk has been out of work since June after being sacked by Birmingham City, following a row with the plank within the club’s transfer policy.
The former Swansea City, Leeds and Middlesbrough director advised the Blues to 17th in the Sky Bet Championship term.
The 40-year-old managed 59 matches for Birmingham (19 wins, 20 pulls, and 20 defeats) through 15 weeks in charge.
As a participant, Monk enjoyed a loan spell to Hillsborough and upon his return with the Owls from the 2002/03 season, the former defender believes he will help Wednesday realise their potential at the Championship this season.
”I was a player here many moons ago and though it was a brief spell, so I got a great grasp of how strong and traditional this club is,” he said.
”it is a fantastic opportunity and one I am really enthusiastic about.
”My overriding feeling is enthusiasm and watching what we can do here. We all know we have a squad that is capable and it is about making us compete as quickly as we could and the quality will come through.
”I’m looking forward to working with Lee (Bullen) and some of the other staff here and their expertise is invaluable. I’ve already had a good chat together and we’ll get to work”
Former Owls boss Steve Bruce stopped the Sky Bet Championship club July to join Newcastle, together with Bullen accountable at the Beginning of this 2019/20 year old.
Following six games, wednesday are now with three wins and three defeats.
Meanwhile, the Lincoln boss Danny Cowley denied he held discussions with Wednesday after being recognized as a candidate for the job.
Tony Pulis, Gary Rowett, Sol Campbell and phil Parkinson had been linked with this position.
Monk will be without the services of striker Fernando Forestieri, who had been struck for’ abusive’ speech during a pre-season friendly by a ban at the onset of the year.
The first match in charge of the Wednesday manager will probably be against Huddersfield following the break, live on Sky Sports Football on September 15 12pm.
